What OpenAI announced

On 7 October 2026 OpenAI published its official announcement (opens in a new tab) of GPT‑6 in ChatGPT. The headline feature is called Intelligent UI: ChatGPT can answer with text, graphics, buttons, forms and interactive experiences without leaving the conversation. The format depends on the question, and when plain text is the most useful answer, that is what ChatGPT gives.

OpenAI says the rollout starts the same day on the Plus, Pro, Business and Enterprise plans, in the Chat tab, and reaches the Free and Go plans the following day. On Enterprise, availability depends on the workspace admin’s settings. Paid plans run on GPT‑6 Sol; Free and Go run on GPT‑6 Luna.

OpenAI adds that ChatGPT can start answering while it is still reasoning. In the company’s own internal evaluation, GPT‑6 Instant starts answering 44% sooner on average than GPT‑5.6 Instant on questions that need a web search. These are OpenAI’s figures and have not been checked independently. The announcement says the change applies to Chat, and the models behind Work and Codex are not changing in this release.

What it means for your business

If your team uses ChatGPT Enterprise, start by asking your admin whether the feature is switched on, because OpenAI says access depends on their settings. On Business, check with whoever manages the account. The announcement gives no prices or usage limits per plan, so do not assume any.

The interfaces ChatGPT builds, such as a calculator or a form, are a quick way to explore an idea. They are not a validated tool: if a result feeds into a decision, check the sums and the assumptions behind them. OpenAI itself admits there is still work to do on the model’s design judgement.

On data protection, the announcement does not explain how information is handled. Before you use it with personal or confidential data, read the terms of your plan and your organisation’s internal policy in the light of the GDPR. If the tool is used in processes that affect people, such as recruitment or appraisals, check your obligations under the EU AI Act as well.

How to try it this week

  • Check with whoever administers your plan whether Intelligent UI is available on your account.
  • Ask for a comparison of two options for an internal process, using made-up data, and see whether the visual version is clearer.
  • Ask for a simple calculator, for example to estimate the time saved on a repetitive task, and redo two of its results by hand.
  • Ask for an interactive explanation of a concept your team struggles with, and note what it adds compared with a written answer.
  • Use only public or invented information. Leave out personal data, client data and confidential documents.

If you want your team to learn to judge and use these features well, IAescola designs tailored training for each organisation.
